#78 Crushed Stone in Pennsylvania

Use the stone beneath the walking surface as the drainage part of the assembly, not as a fine-filled leveling course. Its angular pieces settle together while continuing to let water pass through. This is useful around French drain pipe and under pavers where the project calls for a permeable bedding material. In areas with regular freeze and thaw, keeping that drainage course open helps avoid having water sit in the base through changing weather.
